School is teaching artificial intelligence. Why would you still need an AI anything at the table?<\/p>\n<p>Hold that thought. <strong>School AI<\/strong> and <strong>AI tutor<\/strong> sound related. They are not the same job.<\/p>\n<h2>What Karnataka just announced<\/h2>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/education\/news\/karnataka-introduces-ai-as-vocational-subject-for-classes-9-10-1642-government-schools-to-offer-course-check-complete-details-here\/articleshow\/134385733.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Times of India Education (21 Sep 2026)<\/a>, Karnataka is introducing <strong>artificial intelligence as an NSQF-aligned vocational subject<\/strong> for <strong>Classes 9 and 10<\/strong> in <strong>1,642 government schools<\/strong> from the <strong>2026\u201327<\/strong> academic year.<\/p>\n<p>From that report (not Jhamly claims):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The course is offered <strong>in place of a third-language option<\/strong> in participating schools under the existing NSQF framework.<\/li>\n<li>Implementation runs through Samagra Shikshana Karnataka (SSK), framed as early exposure to emerging tech and workplace skills.<\/li>\n<li>Participating schools are to appoint a <strong>guest AI teacher<\/strong> for 2026\u201327.<\/li>\n<li>Coverage mix: newly approved high schools, schools already offering NSQF subjects, and some single-sector schools shifting vocational offerings toward AI.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That is a real policy move. It is <strong>not<\/strong> a promise that tonight\u2019s stuck Maths or Science chapter now has a tutor at home \u2014 and Jhamly did not cause any of it. Science worksheet on acids and bases. School WhatsApp buzzed earlier about \u201cAI subject for 9\u201310.\u201d Your child is not in that elective yet \u2014 and even if they were, it would not open <em>this<\/em> notebook.<\/p>\n<p>They stall on: <em>Why does lemon juice change the colour of the indicator?<\/em> They want the sentence to copy. You want them to connect \u201cacid\u201d to what they already saw in the kitchen demo last month.<\/p>\n<p>A useful tutor moment here is boring on purpose: it asks what they remember from the lemon demo, what \u201cindicator\u201d means in one line, what would happen if the liquid were water instead \u2014 and <strong>does not paste the textbook answer<\/strong> into the chat. Ten slower minutes. The child still writes the line.<\/p>\n<p>You open the chat later and see the hint chain, not a finished paragraph that appeared from nowhere. That is the whole product point for this post. Not a feature list.<\/p>\n<p>(Illustrative evening. Not a score claim. Not \u201cAI class fixed Science.\u201d)<\/p>\n<h2>Three questions for school vs three for an AI tutor<\/h2>\n<p>No signup. Use this when the news \u2014 or the timetable \u2014 says \u201cAI\u201d and you need to keep two jobs apart.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ask the school (or the circular):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Is this an elective <strong>about<\/strong> AI (skills, vocabulary, NSQF vocational), or anything that sits with tonight\u2019s Maths\/Science homework?<\/li>\n<li>Who is in the room for the stuck sum \u2014 a guest AI teacher on the timetable, or nobody after the bell?<\/li>\n<li>What should we still plan for at home in Grades 6\u20138 (or 9\u201310 on nights the elective does not touch the worksheet)?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Ask any \u201cAI tutor\u201d tool (including ours):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>When the child is stuck, does it <strong>ask or hint before it tells<\/strong> \u2014 or paste the answer?<\/li>\n<li>Can <strong>you<\/strong> open what was said in that stuck session tomorrow, without relying on a screenshot?<\/li>\n<li>Does it claim to replace the school AI period \u2014 or only help with the chapter in front of them?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If school answers \u201celective about AI\u201d and the tool answers \u201cpaste + no parent view,\u201d you still need a plan for the evening chapter. Celebrate the new subject. Do not confuse it with tutoring.<\/p>\n<h2>What this news does <em>not<\/em> change<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Class 6\u20138 families: the headline is Class 9\u201310 government schools.
